We plan to have these congregational pot luck luncheons every other month following the Sunday worship service for a time of fellowship and as an opportunity to provide updates concerning the transition activities and services to be provided by the Center. The next luncheon will be scheduled in June.
After serving as pastor of Grace Bible Church of Hawk Mountain, Molino, PA, for more than fifteen years, Pastor Leland Stauff has announced his plans to retire at the end of March, 2018. Pastor Stauff made the announcement to the church on Sunday, Feb.4 , and thanked the church congregation for their support over the years.
Pastor Stauff was born and raised in Rhode Island, where he attended college, working in banking until he felt the call to ministry. He then attended seminary in Pennsylvania where he met his wife, Carol Lee, who was a school teacher. The two have been married for nearly forty years. They have two sons. Derek and his wife Mariel live in Hillsdale, MI and Devin and his wife, Amy, live in Grove City, PA. The Stauff’s have four grandchildren and another expected in March.
Pastor Stauff has a B.S. in Business Administration from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI, an M.A. and M.div from Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA. He received his doctorate from Dallas Seminary and has also done post-doctorate studies.
Pastor Stauff began his career as a youth pastor at Grace Gospel Chapel, Doylestown, PA, while attending seminary and soon became the senior pastor after graduating. He and his wife served at Grace Gospel Chapel for 15 years. During that time, he also served as a consultant for two Christian organizations. The Stauff’s also served in churches in Champaign, IL, then returned to PA to serve in churches in both Berks and Bucks Counties.
In addition to pastoring for over 40 years, Pastor Stauff has helped to start Three Springs Ministry in Tioga Co and taught in a Bible school in Bermuda. He preached in many churches in Bermuda during the 1980’s and 1990’s and laid the groundwork by training leaders there who later planted a church from Grace Gospel Chapel that now has over 800 in attendance. He also authored the book, “Power and Control”-an expose of the abuse of power in our lives, families and the church.
The Stauff’s have been faithfully serving the Lord at Grace Bible Church of Hawk Mountain since 2002. Carol Lee Stauff has also been a valuable asset to the church, using her teaching skills to teach jr. high AWANA and lead a ladies Bible study. She is also a member of the worship team where she plays keyboard and piano.
The Stauff’s are excited to see where God will lead them next. Pastor Stauff says, “I am not retiring from ministry and preaching, but am retiring from being a Sr. Pastor.” In addition to enjoying more time with their children and grandchildren, the couple plan to travel to FL this spring to visit family and to continue their lifelong passion of traveling and hiking in National Parks. They have also received invitations to preach in Taiwan and Korea and hope to serve in Australia and again in Bermuda. They plan to continue residing in the Orwigsburg area and will provide pulpit supply as the Lord leads. The congregation at Grace Bible Church is thankful to the Lord for the many years of faithful service the Stauff’s have given and pray God richly blesses them in the years to come.
